MSPs can propose changes to a Bill – these are called ”amendments”. The amendments are debated and decided on at a meeting of a committee (usually the same committee that was the lead committee at Stage 1). Only the committee members can vote on amendments at this stage. This is usually the committee whose remit most closely relates to the subject of the Bill. If any bill shall not be returned by the governor within the time limits prescribed by Article III, Section 31 of the Missouri Constitution it shall become law in the same manner as if the governor had signed it. The Chairman announces the number and title of the bill at the beginning of the hearing. Courts, Jails, & Legal System
When the hearings and subcommittee review are completed, the committee will meet to “mark up” the bill. They make changes and amendments prior to recommending the bill to the “floor”.
When the documents described above have all been received, your application is considered complete. However, until the application has been finally acted upon (and until the first day of attendance, if you are accepted and enroll), you are obligated to advise the school of any changes in the information previously furnished. Such changes may be reported informally by e-mail to the Office of Admissions; if official verification is required, you will be so advised. You should also include the facts that are dispositive to the decision in the case. For instance, if the fact that a car is white is a determining factor in the case, the brief should note that the case involves a white car and not simply a car.
